Since Sturman & Co. was established in 2011, Bess has grown the business from the one-woman interior design practice based at her home in Ilkley, to a team of five (six including Leia), working from our new studio on Wells Road.
We are delighted to have our new studio up and running. We have worked hard to create a welcoming and inspiring environment where we can produce great work in collaboration with our trusted suppliers and contractors and welcome our lovely clients to pop in for a coffee and a catch-up.
Getting the right vibe for the studio was essential. Bess started by creating a panelled wall, inspired by the studio's Victorian heritage, with a neutral paint scheme complemented by natural earth and pink tones. Linen and silk effect wallpapers from some of our favourite suppliers Arte and Casamance have found their place alongside a hand-printed block patterned wall by Blithfield in our meeting area. Lighting from Porta Romana and Heathfield finish off the scheme.
Of course no Sturman & Co. studio would be complete without some of our Bess-designed furniture. This includes a huge desk, great for spreading out samples and pouring over plans and lovingly hand-crafted by one of our favourite joiners. And our own shelving units, perfect for displaying the beautiful objets we love. Then our super-comfortable dining chairs have something of the feel of Coco Chanel, with a boucle back and soft velvet front. Uniquely designed and made exclusively by hand in Yorkshire.
